Why are Canadians charged for protecting their homes?
I think it was Mark Twain who once said, ''...sometimes the law is an ass.''
I say that to say this;
Canadian police officers are by law, forced to arrest anyone who has hurt someone else, while committing a crime.
Last friday, a young man in Hull, Quebec, along with 4 of his criminal buddies tried to break into a house.
They were met by a man armed with a knife, who used it with deadly force.
And in Toronto, this past summer, a grocery store owner and 2 of his co-workers charged, after they caught a thief, tied him up and held him for police.
They were charged but recently,thankfully were found not guilty of assault and forcible confinement.
What is going on?
Why are innocent people being charged for protecting themselves?
We are, may I suggest, left too our own defences, because our justice system has be come the ass.
We're not trained, we use too much force, and suddenly, we're in trouble.
In hindsight, most of us, would likely not be as aggressive, but in the moment with emotions high, and fear being what it is, you do what you've got to do.
The bad guys know, it's going to be an easy ride, and in that vicious circle we, the people end up taking the law into our hands, because hey, if no one else is standing up for me, I guess I've got to;
So wrong, but I get it.
